Sherlock is a totally daddy’s boy, and is obsessed with Kelton. He HAS to be up by your face or he isn’t happy, and once he’s there, licking your face and ears he gets the biggest grin ever. He recently got neutered, and he LOVED his cone. It was so weird. The first day of having it he discovered that he could pin Kelton down, using his cone, so Kelton’s face was stuck in there with his, and Sherlock was in heaven. Honestly, I’ve never seen is tail wag faster, or a bigger smile on his face.
Sherlock reminds us of Dug, the dog from UP. His attention span isn’t very long, and he’s super energetic, and just wants to please you. If you tell any other dog to come, or sit, Sherlock rushes to get to you first, and then if they sit, he’ll move in front of them, or push them aside so he can be the one sitting in front of you. I’m sure it’s a behavior that needs to be corrected, but it’s so adorable I haven’t had the heart to tell him not to do it.
Sherlock loves fetch, but he’ll just sit there, and watch as you throw it, and he won’t chase it until after Luna goes to pick it up. Then, he’ll run/lunge at her, and grab the other end, trying to yank it away from her so he can be the one to bring it to you. He still doesn’t get drop it, and will guard that rope with his life, then whine if you don’t get it and throw it. One day it will connect for him that him guarding it like it’s the last piece of food on earth results in us not throwing it. Until then, we keep extra ropes around so we can keep playing fetch with Luna, and rotate which one we use as Sherlock guards the last one we threw.
Sherlock learns insanely fast, and was the first of our dogs to understand time for bed. He loves is crate, and will just sit in there waiting if you don’t open the door all of the way, and goes in there at night and waits for his treat once you tell him it’s bed time. He is so cute, and full of ridiculous amounts of energy-he’s perfect for our little family.
